Civitas Law is the first specialist civil and public law set in Wales. There are 27 members of chambers with an equal balance between male and female and an even spread with regards to age, social background, state or private education and higher education. We are proud to be able to offer advisory, drafting and advocacy services in both English and Welsh. The importance of experts in clinical negligence trials (Arksey v Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Smith v Royal Liverpool Hospitals NHS Trust) 

Ian Meikle has created The Injury Appeals Blog https://www.injuryappeals.blog, a collection of summaries of the latest Supreme Court and Court of Appeal decisions on cases involving personal injury or clinical negligence. Ian aims to post about the cases within the week that the decisions are published.

Civitas Law are delighted to announce that Rachel Anthony has been appointed to the Panel of Counsel for The Equality & Human Rights Commission. Rachel is one of only two Welsh based counsel to be appointed to the panel.

The Equality & Human Rights Commission panel of counsel lists preferred providers of external legal services, including representation and advice.

Civitas Law continues to support the development of young lawyers in Wales through its contribution to the annual Cardiff University Mooting Competition. This is a key event with the academic programme and involves undergraduates together with those studying towards a Graduate Diploma in Law.

Members of Chambers Elizabeth Marshall and Christopher Howells were the judges for this year’s competitions. There were some excellent performances from the competitors and the winners receive mini pupillages at Civitas Law.
