Overview
Mair Coombes Davies specialises in Dispute Resolution. She has conducted many hundreds of separate arbitrations, adjudications and mediations. Her main area of practice is the built environment.
After receiving degrees in architecture, including a PhD in construction law, Mair Coombes Davies practiced as a barrister specialising in the built environment. Her experience includes the resolution of disputes involving all aspects of the built environment from construction, planning and land disputes to commercial and consumer disputes.
She has been an appointed arbitrator of the Welsh Assembly Government and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister together with being an appointed mediator of the Court of Appeal. She has represented the RIBA at the Architects Council of Europe ADR Working Group. She has been appointed a Visiting Fellow and is a Visiting Professor of arbitration, adjudication and mediation at the University of South Wales. She is Head of the Dispute Resolution Division of Civitas Law Civil and Public Law Barristers.
In addition to being a practicing Barrister, a Chartered Arbitrator, an Accredited Adjudicator and an Accredited Mediator she has led and sat on specialist committees on the development and future of Dispute Resolution for the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the General Council of the Bar and the Royal Institute of British Architects. She is a member of several panels including those of the RIBA, the Construction Industry Council, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and CEDR. She has lectured widely and is the author of numerous publications on ADR.
