Chambers support for Legal Wales

Those going to Cymru'r Gyfraith - Legal Wales on Friday 11 October 2013 at City Hall, Cardiff have a rare treat in store.  Not only will they have the chance to hear from Sir John Thomas as he takes up his new role as Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, but they will also be able to hear from 5 members of Civitas Law.

The Conference Director, Keith Bush, a member of Civitas Law, will deliver a welcome at the start of the day.

Gareth Jones and Nick Thomas-Symonds will later be giving a talk entitled "In all Good Conscience" reviewing the difficulties of proving undue influence and providing an update on recent chancery cases.

There is then the keynote speech by Sir John Thomas on"The role of the judiciary in a rapidly changing Wales" chairedby Sir John Griffiths Williams, Presiding Judge of Wales.

There is then a tricky choice for the supporters of Chambers since in one venue you will have the chance to hear Keith Bush deliver the Welsh Legal History Society talk "The Labour of Sisyphys - Dafydd Jenkins and the National Petition on the Welsh Language 1938-1941.

At the same time however in another venue, Mair Coombes Davies, under the aegis of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, will review the latest developments in Dispute Resolution.

Later Theo Huckle QC, the Counsel General for Wales, will be chairing a session taken by Rt Hon. Sir David Lloyd Jones, Chairman of the Law Commission of England and Wales, considering the future of law reform in Wales.

The event carries 6 CPD points.  The standard fee is £95 although there are concessionary rates for various categories of trainees, students and pupil barristers.

Do contact Keith Bush for more details or see the full programme on the Legal Wales site.
