Practice Profile

Personal Injury

Victoria has experience in a wide variety of fast track personal injury claims involving Road Traffic Accidents, Occupiers’ Liability, Defective Premises, Highway Tripping and Employers Liability cases from initial advice through to pleadings and Trial. Victoria is happy to undertake CFA’s.


Chancery

Victoria is frequently instructed for Claimants and Defendants in a range of contract disputes including building and construction contracts. She regularly advises and acts in a range of debt recovery cases including consumer credit. She represented Barclays Bank in the current leading judgment in Wales on bank charges in Rayment and Gill v Barclays Bank Plc (2007) and in possession claims in the Chancery Court. Victoria has considerable experience in insolvency work including setting aside statutory demands, bankruptcy petitions, possession orders, orders for sale and charging orders both on behalf of individuals and trustees.


Tort Law

Victoria undertakes work in all areas of tort law. She specialises in representing and advising upon claims against the police including trespass and conversion claims and has recently settled proceedings in an ongoing misfeasance in public office and breach of Human Rights Act claim involving the police.


Housing

Victoria is regularly instructed by Local Authorities and private landlords in property damage cases and landlord and tenant disputes. She also represents Local Authorities and individuals in claims for possession, anti social behaviour orders and exclusion orders including breaches and committals.


Employment

Victoria frequently appears in the Employment Tribunal undertaking work for Applicants and Respondents including claims involving unfair dismissal, redundancy and discrimination. She recently successfully defended a Union and Solicitors firm against a wasted costs order upon the withdrawal of claims.


Regulatory Law

Victoria has significant experience in prosecuting and defending prosecutions relating to underage sales and planning and enforcement notices. She is currently defending a Local Authority in their first appeal against the issue of a noise nuisance abatement notice.  Victoria regularly receives instructions from South Wales Police on all types of civil applications dealt within in the Magistrates Court and Crown Court including forfeiture orders under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, anti social behaviour orders, football banning orders and firearm licences appeals.


Licensing

Victoria has a rapidly developing practice advising and representing the Police, Licensing Sub Committees and individuals on cases under the Licensing Act 2003. She was recently the advocate involved in successfully defending an appeal against one licensing sub – committee’s first revocation of a Premises Licence under the new Act.


Disclosure

Member of the prosecution disclosure team in R v Tudor 2007, the second largest e – coli enquiry. Regularly instructed by a number of local authorities in disclosure matters relating to prosecutions in the Crown Court.
