Renting Homes Wales: Supported Accommodation

Renting Homes Wales: Supported Accommodation

Isabelle Knight explains how the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016 facilitates the provision of accommodation to some of the most vulnerable people, by way of supported standard contracts. This is the latest in the series from Civitas law helping practitioners navigate the changes coming into force on 15th July 2022 when the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016 comes into force. The Act abolishes most forms of residential tenancy and replaces them with occupation contracts.

Isabelle, was part of the legal team intervening on behalf of Shelter Cymru in the case of Jarvis v Evans [2020] EWCA Civ 854. She brings added depth of experience to her housing practice, having previously worked for NHS Continuing Healthcare Department at Hugh James Solicitors.

In the newest instalment from RentingHomesWales.com Isabelle provides useful guidance for practitioners on how the Act regulates the provision of accommodation provided in tandem with support services such as those for overcoming addiction, finding employment, or support to live independently. The article provides useful detail that practitioners are likely to nee day-to-day and can be found here.
